Alexis is one of only two women in the State of Pennsylvania licensed to judge professional boxing. Here, she is on the job as former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson watches the match.
In recognition of Women's History Month, Bell Techlogix is highlighting some of the women in leadership who drive change in our company. Meet Alexis Pierce, senior account manager and one of only two women in the State of Pennsylvania licensed to judge professional boxing.
Please share your career path prior to joining Bell Techlogix? I began my IT career with EMC in 1999 when a terabyte of storage cost at least a million dollars and the equipment was the size of a large refrigerator. You can now purchase a TB of data for less than $50 and it’s the size of a large wallet. I have worked with different technologies and companies throughout my career from EMC and IBM storage to Microsoft as a Service Executive. Each company, opportunity, and client has enhanced my technical repertoire and capabilities to solve clients’ challenges through technologies and solutions.
What do you consider as one of your biggest career accomplishments? As a woman in IT for more than 20 years and a professional boxing judge for 15 years, I am often the only woman in the room or ringside, understanding that I have earned the right to offer my talents and to continue to break barriers remains an ongoing accomplishment.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a leader? You’re never above the work that anyone does, helping others accomplish those tasks builds trust and respect, two essential components of being a successful leader.
What advice would you offer women just starting out in their careers? Never accept no from anyone that does not possess the authority to say no.
Favorite quote.... “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth” ~Muhammad Ali
