The Bell Techlogix solution includes a holistic patch management process that is designed to address the most critical platform patches and is described below. SCCM will detect patches released for a product. The process will start a full site-wide scan to determine any devices to be updated. If the patch/update is applicable, the following actions will be taken:
- Bell Techlogix team, including our change management team, will work together to create the change record
- Communications will be distributed to all potentially impacted application owners to determine if application testing is required
- Once approvals are received from the change advisory board and application owners, the patch will be deployed to the test environment
- If no issues are detected in the test environment or testing was not requested, a change request will be created to patch the production environment
- Once the change request for production has been approved, the patches are deployed
- After deployment, patch penetration reporting, and remediation activities are performed
