Celebrating women in leadership: Suzie Hise

In recognition of Women's History Month, Bell Techlogix is highlighting some of the women in leadership who drive change in our company. Meet Suzie Hise, Administrative Operations Coordinator & Senior C-Level Executive Assistant.

What is your role at Bell Techlogix? I manage all things related to building operations and logistics. For example, I work with facility vendors to negotiate pricing for items needed for the day-to-day operations of the building.  I coordinate the repairs and maintenance of the building.  I also oversee and coordinate special projects, such as the installation of additional workstations or office renovations. I provide administrative support to various departments, but my priority is to support our CEO and other members of the Executive Leadership team.

Please share your career path prior to joining Bell Techlogix.  I've always worked in the administration field in some capacity, starting as a receptionist for an accounting firm.  I had no experience and was very fortunate to work with a great group of people that took me under their wings.  I eventually took a position as the "Admin" for a sales team and that led to a sales manager role, which I held for several years.  I have over 35 years of extensive administrative experience, 20 of those supporting C-Level executives.

What do you consider as one of your biggest career accomplishments? One of my biggest accomplishments was the coordination of two office moves in back-to-back years, one with another company and one with Bell Techlogix.  I'd also include, as an accomplishment, the successful renovation of our Bell Techlogix offices during the middle of the pandemic. In my sales career, my biggest accomplishment was becoming the top producer in my second year and that was important to me because I had several people who doubted me, but I worked hard, and it paid off.

What is the best lesson you’ve learned as a leader?  I've learned it's okay not to have all the answers, and it's okay to ask for help.  I also learned to delegate – something that isn’t easy for me, but it’s the only way your team will grow with you.

What advice would you offer women just starting out in their careers?  Work hard.  Be confident. Listen and learn. Learn as much as you can from those more experienced than you.  Always be willing to take on additional responsibilities as that greatly expands your knowledge of a company.
